Shipping policy

  1. Processing Time
Clearly state how long it takes to prepare an order for shipment, including whether weekends or holidays are excluded and any cutoff times for same-day processing. For example, “Orders received after 5 p.m. will be processed the next business day” helps set realistic expectations
  2. Shipping Options and Costs
List all available shipping methods, such as standard, expedited, or overnight, along with their costs. Using a table format makes it easy for customers to compare options at first glance.
  3. Delivery Time Estimates
Provide estimated delivery times for each shipping option, both domestically and internationally. Include any potential delays due to holidays, peak seasons, or carrier issues
  4. Domestic and International Coverage
Specify the regions you ship to, including any restrictions (e.g., PO boxes or certain countries). For international shipping, outline customs, tariffs, and duties, and clarify whether the customer or your business is responsible for these fees
  5. Tracking and Notifications
Explain how customers can track their orders and receive updates. Providing tracking links reduces “Where is my order?” inquiries and improves customer satisfaction
  6. Handling Delays and Lost Packages
Include a section on how you handle delays, lost, or damaged packages. This protects your business and reassures customers that issues will be addressed professionally
  7. Returns and Exchanges
While separate from a shipping policy, briefly reference your return and refund policy to clarify what happens if a shipment needs to be returned

Best Practices

  • Transparency: Be upfront about costs, timelines, and limitations to build trust.
  • Accessibility: Place your shipping policy on a dedicated page and link it in FAQs, product pages, and checkout.
  • Clarity: Use simple language, bullet points, and tables to make information easy to scan.
  • Regular Updates: Adjust your policy as shipping rules, carriers, or costs change to keep customers informed
